Administrative staff
Good administrative staff are vital to the running of our organisation. Most of the people who work in DWP are in administrative roles - as Administrative Assistants or Administrative Officers.
These jobs involve working as part of a team. The size of the team varies from a few people to over 50, depending on which part of the organisation it operates in.
As an Administrative Assistant you could be:
- arranging meetings and conferences
- maintaining information systems - paper or computer-based
- giving general administrative support to the team
- doing telephony work in a Contact Centre.
The salary range for an Administrative Assistant (national scale) is £12,590 - £14,270 (at 2007/2008 rates). Recruitment adverts will state the salary range to be offered.
As an Administrative Officer you will operate more independently, although within a team and with support and advice from your line manager. You could be:
- advising customers about jobs or benefit entitlements
- handling queries.
The salary range for an Administrative Officer (national scale) is £14,270 - £17,600 (at 2007/2008 rates). Recruitment adverts will state the salary range to be offered.
