Description

Debt Management Stornoway is part of the Department for Work and Pensions and we are looking to recruit Fixed Term Appointments at Band B (Administrative Officer). These are Fixed Term appointments initially up to March 09 with a possibility of permanency at a future date. A waiting list will be held for a period of 12 months where vacancies are not immediately available. It is expected that successful candidates would take up posting in July 08.
 
Debt Management is responsible for the calculation and recovery of overpaid benefits on behalf of Jobcentre Plus, The Pension Service and DCS.

We are looking for people who are willing to learn, can work as part of a team and have the ability to work on their own initiative and with minimum supervision.

Duties for this post involve the scrutinising and calculation of overpayment referrals and inputting data onto a computer system. Some clerical work may also be involved.

Debt Management can offer various full time and part time work patterns subject to business needs. Our operating hours are 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday. The full time working week is 37 hours between these times.
 
Please note that successful candidates will be expected to work full time for specific periods to complete and consolidate training.

No previous experience is required as training is provided however basic keyboard skills would be an advantage. Applicants must complete the Competency Choice Application and demonstrate the required behaviours and, if successful at the first stage, complete a numeracy and literacy test. Applicants successful at testing will be invited for interview where they must demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

Applicants successful at the sift stage will be invited to a selection test w/c 9th June 08. Applicants successful at selection test stage will be invited to interview w/c 16 June 08.
