Information Services and Information Technology (IS/IT)
The Strategic Sourcing Directorate (SSD) is responsible for:
- Efficient procurement of IT products and services required
- Ensuring IT contracts are compliant with legislation
- Setting and monitoring DWP IT commercial strategy and targets
- Coordinating IT supplier relationships and driving up supplier performance
- Managing the DWP IT framework contracts, for example Unity
SSD comprises a central support team and support teams fully integrated with DWP business units and are responsible for procuring IT services in direct support of the Information Service Director’s delivery programme.
The central team is responsible for implementing the commercial strategy, contract management, policy advice and guidance and supplier relationship management. The decentralised commercial functions form part of the IS Director's teams that exist within each of the major DWP business areas and are responsible for procuring IT services in direct support of the IS Director's delivery programme.
Together, all these functions combine under the SSD Director as Head of Profession to provide DWP with an effective IT commercial community.
