Prevalence of Ulcerative Colitis

The annual incidence is 5 – 8 per 100,000 populations in northern Europe. The prevalence is 30 – 90 cases per 100,000.

Ulcerative colitis can occur at any age from childhood to old age. There are two peaks of incidence at 20 –30 years and 50 – 60 years. It is equally common in men and women.
