Stages of testicular cancer
There are several ways of staging testicular cell cancer, the simplest is used here.
- Stage 1 the cancer is only in the testicle.
- Stage 2 the cancer is in the testicle and the lymph nodes in the abdomen and pelvis.
- Stage 3 the cancer has spread outside the pelvis and abdomen to lymph nodes in the chest or neck, or the tumour has not spread from the testicle but tumour marker levels in the blood are very high.
- Stage 4 there is metastatic disease outside lymph nodes for example in the lungs.
