Prevalence of Schizophrenia

The lifetime prevalence (risk of schizophrenia is estimated at 1% (10 per 1000 population). The average general practitioner will probably care for 10-20 people with schizophrenia. The peak incidence of onset is between 15-25 years in men and 25-35 years in women. It is a condition that occurs in all cultures.
