Secondary psychiatric syndromes
Cerebral or systemic disease can result in a number of different secondary psychiatric syndromes. Any of the following may occur -:
- Psychosis
- Mood disorder
- Change in personality
- Delusional disorder
- Organic hallucinosis – usual visual or auditory
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
There are many possible underlying causes of secondary psychiatric syndromes. More common ones include substance misuse disorders, dementias and epilepsy.
