Mental and Physical Disability Factors

The physical wellbeing of mental health patients may be overlooked; for example, 60% of patients with schizophrenia die prematurely with most dying from cardiovascular disease. Their obesity is a combination of chaotic lifestyle, antipsychotic medication, genetic predisposition and poor monitoring of physical health status.

A study has shown that obesity is more prevalent among persons with serious mental disorders than matched individuals in the general population.
