Low grade table
| Name of lymphoma | Other features |
|---|---|
| Follicular lymphoma (commonest) | Commonest type of lymphoma (70% of low grade lymphomas). Median survival 8-10 years. |
| Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma | Also known as Waldenstrom Macrogobulinaemia. These patients may have a serum paraprotein in their blood like people with myeloma. Treatment is as for low grade lymphoma but some may be given interferon treatment as well. |
| Marginal zone lymphoma | May be diagnosed in the bowel and be called a MALT lymphoma. The area most commonly involved is the stomach. Many of these are low grade tumours with minimal disabling effects and non-disabling treatments. Rarely treatment may involve surgical removal of the stomach (gastrectomy). |
| Splenic marginal zone lymphoma | May cause enlargement of the spleen, treatment may include surgery to remove the spleen - splenectomy. |
| Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma | This lymphoma affects the skin only; the main treatment will often be radiotherapy. In more severe cases a course of chemotherapy may be given. |
