Low grade table

Name of lymphoma Other features
Follicular lymphoma (commonest) Commonest type of lymphoma (70% of low grade lymphomas). Median survival 8-10 years.
Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma Also known as Waldenstrom Macrogobulinaemia. These patients may have a serum paraprotein in their blood like people with myeloma. Treatment is as for low grade lymphoma but some may be given interferon treatment as well.
Marginal zone lymphoma May be diagnosed in the bowel and be called a MALT lymphoma. The area most commonly involved is the stomach. Many of these are low grade tumours with minimal disabling effects and non-disabling treatments. Rarely treatment may involve surgical removal of the stomach (gastrectomy).
Splenic marginal zone lymphoma May cause enlargement of the spleen, treatment may include surgery to remove the spleen - splenectomy.
Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma This lymphoma affects the skin only; the main treatment will often be radiotherapy. In more severe cases a course of chemotherapy may be given.
