Prognostic treatment (Antiplatelet therapy)

Aspirin - Reduces risk of heart attack and death through its prevention of clot formation.

It should be given routinely to all patients with coronary heart disease indefinitely, unless they develop side effects from this (such as bleeding from the gut, or allergy)

Fibrates, Statins and Ezetimibe are cholesterol &ndash lowering agents, which are currently recommended for all patients with a cholesterol level above 5 mmol/l, although this level is dropping as time goes by due to new evidence from clinical trials.
