Anxiety and Agoraphobia in people with hearing disability
People with a hearing disability may say that they are anxious when out of doors. This is likely to be a normal reaction and does not represent a mental illness.
Some people with hearing loss may also suffer from a mental illness – anxiety or agoraphobia. Their case should be assessed in the same way as any other case of this mental illness as they may have difficulty finding their way around unfamiliar places and require guidance.
