Diagnosis

Diagnosis of eczema depends heavily on the history of onset, clinical presentation and nature of the rash. There are no specific tests to confirm the diagnosis although in allergic eczema the use of skin sensitivity testing may identify one or more allergens to which the person is sensitized. Blood tests may show raised levels of specific immunoglobulins and eosinophil white blood cells.
