Who gets Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal tunnel syndrome affects about 1 in 100 people at some time in their lives. It can occur in both sexes, but women are three times more likely than men to develop it, and it occurs most commonly in the 30s, 40s and 50s.

The dominant hand is usually affected first and normally develops more severe symptoms than in the non-dominant hand. Carpal tunnel syndrome usually occurs only in adults.
