DWP Decision Making Standards Committee
The DWP Decision Making Standards Committee (“the Committee”) is a non-executive body which monitors the standards of decision making in benefits across DWP. It reports to the Chief Executives of Jobcentre Plus, The Pension Service and the Disability and Carers Service.
The Committee has three key objectives:
- to provide independent advice to senior executives on whether reports on the standard of benefit decision making are accurate;
- to identify and make recommendations on the areas where standards can be improved; and
- to look at specific issues raised by the Agency Chief Executives that may affect the standard of decision making.
The current Committee consists of a Chair and three Members. Read who we are.
The Chair has an overarching interest in all the businesses above, whilst each of the three members has a special interest in one of the DWP businesses. Each member of the Committee is required to adhere to The Seven Principles of Public Life (links to The Committee on Standards in Public Life website).
Note: The Committee considers the overall standards of decision making across the DWP, they do not comment upon, and cannot intervene, in individual cases.
