Treatment of Sarcoidosis

Symptoms/ Signs/ Effects of Sarcoidosis Treatment
  • Persistent erythema nodosum
  • Pyrexia
  • Arthralgia
  • Usually Non-Steroidal Anti- Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Anterior uveitis
  • Hypercalcaemia
  • Corticosteroid eye drops
  • Oral corticosteroids
  • Severe systemic disease affecting eyes (posterior uveitis),heart, brain and vital organs,
  • disfiguring skin lesions
  • Persistent infiltration of the lungs with worsening lung function readings
  • Long-term corticosteroids such as 20mg to 40mg per day of prednisolone reducing to 15mg on alternate days for 6 -12 months
  • This medication may be supplemented by, or replaced by immunosuppressants
  • Hydroxychloroquine
