Over 65

Although the most frequent age of onset is 20 to 40 years, sarcoidosis may manifest for the first time in the elderly. It is then often associated with the development of chronic, progressive disease. This form of the disease is more likely to be widespread and more likely to be associated with more severe disease (see above for effects) and poor prognosis.
