Treatment of hearing loss

Conductive hearing loss

This is usually treated initially with hearing aids. However, surgical interventions may be offered as treatment for chronic secretory otitis media (insertion of grommets), otosclerosis (stapedectomy) and perforated tympanic membrane (myringoplasty or tympanoplasty).

Sensorineural Hearing Loss

This can be treated by conventional digital hearing aids. Surgically implanted devices such as Cochlear Implants, Middle Ear Implants and Bone Anchored Hearing Aids can be used in specific circumstances.
