'Working Together' – United Kingdom National Action Plan on Social Inclusion 2008-2010

'Working Together' is the fourth UK National Action Plan (NAP) on social exclusion. It explains how people from across the UK will be co-operating from 2008 to 2010 to tackle social exclusion and make a decisive impact on poverty.

'Working Together' follows an agreed format for NAPs and addresses social inclusion objectives shared across the EU. The title of our NAP reflects the vital contribution that people at all levels of UK society – and in particular people experiencing poverty – have made to the development of our social inclusion strategy.

UK National Action Plan launch

The UK National Action Plan (NAP) launch event took place on Friday 19 September 2008 at Liverpool Town Hall.

The launch event provided an opportunity for people with direct experience of poverty, academics, key stakeholders in the Government, voluntary and community sectors across the UK to share information and views regarding the National Action Plan for Social Inclusion (NAP) 2008. It also provided an opening to discuss the Government’s proposals for future Welfare Reform as outlined in the Welfare Reform consultation paper "No one written off".

Views of the discussion group have been submitted for consideration by DWP officials as part of the wider response to the consultation exercise and are included in Annex A of the report. The report was prepared by an external consultant.
