National Action Plan

UK National Action Plan national event seminar, March 2008

The National Event Seminar was held at the Voluntary Sector Resource Centre, London on 17 March 2008.The aim of the seminar was to provide an opportunity for people experiencing poverty, academics and key stakeholders in Government, the European Commission and the voluntary and community sectors to share information and views regarding the National Action Plan on Social Exclusion (NAP).

Bridging the Policy Gap

This project was designed to increase awareness of European action in the field of social inclusion and social protection and took place in Swansea, Glasgow and Newham in East London.

Get Heard project

The Get Heard project, which ran from November 2004 to September 2006, featured a series of 146 workshops at which people with first hand experience of poverty and social exclusion were invited to give their views on government policies on social exclusion. The results of the Project fed directly into the UK National Report on Strategies for Social Protection and Social Inclusion 2006-2008.

Working Together to Reduce Poverty and Inequality Conference, July 2007

The Working Together to Reduce Poverty and Inequality Conference was held at the University of Warwick from 5 to 6 July 2007.

It brought together people who have experience of poverty and social exclusion with government ministers and policy makers to discuss how to reduce poverty and inequality in the UK.

The focus of the conference was a series of discussion sessions which considered in detail some of the key topics which had emerged from the Get Heard project.
