Report on Child Poverty in the UK - Government response to the 2nd report of the Work and Pensions Select Committee
Launched 8th June 2004
Background
Between November 2003 and April 2004, the House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee conducted an enquiry into child poverty in the UK to ascertain how the Government is tackling it, and whether the policies are working. Rt Hon Margaret Hodge and Rt Hon Andrew Smith, as well as officials from DWP and HMT, were witnesses for the Government. The Work and Pensions Committee then published a report on 8 April 2004 reviewing all the evidence supplied and made 33 recommendations for the future. On the 8th June 2004 the Government published this Command Paper 6200 as its response to all of these recommendations and to the report in general.
