Proportion of young people not in full-time education who are not in employment
Indicator description
This indicator shows of the 18-24 year olds not in full time education, what proportion are also not in employment and is measured by dividing the number of 18-24 years olds who are not in employment or full-time education by the total number of 18-24 year olds who are not in full time education. It uses data from the Labour Force Survey published monthly by the Office for National Statistics approximately six weeks after the period. The data is seasonally adjusted and therefore quarter on quarter comparisons can be made.

The latest data show that the proportion of 18-24 year olds not in full time education who are not in employment was 30.5% in July to September 2012, showing a fall of 1.4 points from the previous quarter (April to June) and a fall of 1.5 points on the year.
The latest data are for the period July-September 2012 when there 3.93 million 18-24 year olds not in full-time education and, of these, 1.20 million (30.5 per cent) were not in work
