30 October 2008 – New Chief Executive for ILF

The Independent Living Fund (ILF) has appointed a new chief executive.

Patrick Boyle, currently chief executive and accounting officer, at the Rent Service will take up the position early in January 2009.

The ILF provides financial help to severely disabled people who wish to live independently.

Mr Boyle said:

“I am delighted to take up the position of CEO at the Independent Living Fund. The Fund supports over 21,000 severely disabled people so they are able to choose where and how they live and can be independent.”

Chair of the trustees Stephen Jack said:

“We are looking forward to working with Patrick. He will bring energy and drive to the ILF as well as the benefit of his wide experience as a chief executive in central and local government and in the NHS.”

The ILF is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It is wholly funded by the DWP and the Department for Social Development in Northern Ireland (DSD).

The Fund is a discretionary trust operated at arms length from Government. It is financed by cash limited ‘grants-in-aid’ and managed by a board of trustees appointed by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. Its 2008/2009 budget for the UK is £353 million and it provides support to over 21,000 disabled people.
