29 August 08 – Non-Executive Director of the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission announced
Secretary of State for Work and Pensions James Purnell today announced the appointment of Heather Jackson as an Non-Executive Director to the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission. Heather’s appointment follows the appointment of Deborah Absolam, Bill Griffiths, Rosemary Carter and Maeve Sherlock as Non-Executive Directors announced on 12 June 2008.
Chair of the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission Janet Paraskeva said:
“Heather is a tremendous addition to the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission. Her skills and experience in senior roles in the IT sector will be vital to the Commission in our aim to deliver more money to more families.”
The Child Maintenance and Other Payments Act saw the creation of a new Commission, a non-departmental public body with responsibility for delivering a new approach to child maintenance.

- Royal Assent of the Child Maintenance and Other Payments Act was received on 5 June 2008.
- The appointment will commence on1st September and will be for an initial period of four years. The appointment was made on merit following an open competition for the post.
- Janet Paraskeva was appointed Chair Designate of the Commission on 19th November 2007 with Stephen Geraghty as Commissioner Designate on 1st January 2008. Both appointments were formally confirmed by the Secretary of State following Royal Assent of the Act.

Heather Jackson is Chief Information Officer and Group IT Director with HBOS bank. Prior to this, Heather has had several IT director and leadership roles within HBOS, Capital One, Boots, Asda and Burton Group.
