01 April 2008 – Directgov moves to DWP
Directgov, the government’s flagship digital service, which brings together wide ranging public service information and services and makes them available on the web, mobile and digital television, has moved to DWP.
Launched in 2004, Directgov helps people to access a range of government services from planning a journey or taxing a car to renewing a passport or finding a local school or health centre.
Welcoming the move, DWP Permanent Secretary, Leigh Lewis, said:
“As a major service delivery department which touches every citizen’s life at some point, DWP is committed to improving the way government communicates with citizens.
“Directgov has an excellent track record in joining up government services and providing information to the public in a way that is accessible and easy to use. We look forward to building on this success as the digital services and information provided by government grows.”
