Professor Dame Carol Black DBE MD FRCP FmedSci – National Director for Health and Work

Dame Carol Black

Professor Dame Carol Black is the National Director for Health and Work, Chairman of the Nuffield Trust, President of the British Lung Foundation, and Pro-Chancellor of the University of Bristol. She is a past-President of the Royal College of Physicians, and immediate past-Chairman of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges. The Centre she established at the Royal Free Hospital, London is internationally renowned in the field of connective tissue diseases.

Since the early 1990s she has worked at board level in a number of organisations, including the Royal Free Hospital Hampstead NHS Trust, the Health Foundation, the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, and the Imperial College Healthcare Charity, and recently chaired the UK Health Honours Committee. She is a Trustee of the National Portrait Gallery, a member of the Committee for the Queen’s Awards for Voluntary Service, chairs the governance board of the new Centre for Workforce Intelligence, and is on several national committees aiming to improve healthcare. She is a Foreign Affiliate of the Institute of Medicine USA, and has been awarded many honorary degrees and fellowships.

David Frost CBE, DUniv – former Director General, British Chambers of Commerce

David Frost

David Frost was Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce from January 2003 to September 2011.

Prior to this he was Chief Executive of Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and Business Link. 

The British Chambers of Commerce represents 100,000 businesses through a network of 54 Accredited Chambers of Commerce. The role of the BCC is to promote the interests of British Business and represent the interests of the Chambers of Commerce. A subsidiary company, BCC Enterprises, develops a range of commercial activities for the benefit of Chambers and their members.

David is Chairman of the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship.

He is a Vice Chairman of Ufi/ Learn Direct and also a member of the National Employer Advisory Board for the Reserve Forces.

In 2011 New Year Honours David received a CBE for services to business.

In February 2008 David received an Honorary Doctorate from Birmingham City University.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
