Consultation response
The Government published a response to the consultation on its Green Paper ‘A new deal for welfare: Empowering people to work’ – and its response to the Work and Pensions Select Committee report on ’Incapacity Benefits and Pathways to Work’ – on 19 June 2006.
Both documents set out the DWP proposals for Welfare Reform and reflect the consultation feedback from over 600 organisations.

A new deal for welfare: Empowering people to work
The Government published a Green Paper 'A new deal for welfare: Empowering people to work' on 24 January 2006.
This was a landmark document for the Department in meeting its objectives of promoting opportunity and independence for all. It contained major proposals to help individuals achieve their potential through work.
