Expressions of interest

Following the Green Paper consultation, the government announced that pathfinder areas for the cities strategy would be chosen through an ‘expression of interest’ (EOI) exercise.

A number of areas were invited to submit a proposal using a standard proforma, drawing on guidance issued by the DWP (57KB) .

The call for expressions of interest closed on 3 July 2006 and the successful areas were announced on 27 July.

In a spirit of encouraging innovation and the sharing of ideas and good practice, all the pathfinder areas have agreed for their expressions of interest to be published on this website. Two London pathfinders, which were announced earlier in the year, did not participate in the EOI exercise, but have also agreed for their interim plans to be made available on the same basis.
