Consultations on automatic enrolment
Workplace pension reforms: formal consultation on draft regulations
The Government is putting in place the final legislative changes needed to support the introduction of the workplace pension reforms in 2012.
As part of this process, in April 2011 we informally consulted on draft regulations and guidance relating to the reforms, with the intention of identifying issues that we needed to address before finalising the policy.
We have completed this process and are conducting a formal consultation on the draft legislation and guidance on certification of pension schemes. The consultation exercise began in July and ends on 11 October 2011.
Regulatory differences between occupational and workplace personal pensions: Call for evidence to prepare for automatic enrolment
In January 2011 we consulted as part of a call for evidence on regulatory differences between occupational and workplace personal pension schemes.
This was part of our commitment to ensuring that the legislative framework governing pensions remains appropriate in light of automatic enrolment. We were also interested in views on potential solutions to address any problems created by regulatory differences.
We published the Government’s initial response to the call for evidence in June 2011.
Offering a default option for defined contribution automatic enrolment pension schemes – consultation on draft guidance
In December 2010 we consulted on the draft guidance about offering a default option for defined contribution automatic enrolment pension schemes. We developed the guidance to provide helpful information on the design, governance, communication and review of default options.
We published the Government’s response to the consultation on 24 May 2011.
