Department of Health
DWP has been working closely with the Department of Health (DH) and shared a lot of learning with its Partnerships for Older People Project (POPPs). There are also links with other DH initiatives.
The DH policy for older people and their carers seeks to promote social inclusion and control over their lives, ensuring respect and choice. This enables older people to live independently for as long as possible, benefit from tailored care and support and experience an enhanced quality of life.

Dementia Strategy
The Dementia Strategy, published in February 2009, provides a strategic framework within which local services can deliver quality improvements to dementia services and address health inequalities relating to dementia.

- Dementia information portal – offers information and support to members of the National Dementia Strategy Implementation Reference Group and anyone with an interest in improving services for people with dementia.
Partnerships for Older People Projects (POPPs)
POPPs saw 29 local authority led partnerships funded by DH to deliver and evaluate locally innovative schemes for older people. They include health and third sector partners such as voluntary, community and independent organisations.
