Audit Commission
Resources published by the Audit Commission:
- Planning for an ageing society tools to help councils meet the challenge of an ageing population
- Case studies covering leisure, learning and socialising, planning services for a diverse older population, income – work, volunteering and benefits, intergenerational work, changing perceptions and raising awareness
- Check lists covering understanding, engaging and mobilising the community, age-proofing, and targeting services.
LinkAge Plus
LinkAge Plus pilots were set up to provide older people with access to a wide range of more integrated, joined-up services, including:
- housing
- transport
- health and social care
- work
- volunteering opportunities.
Eight pilots brought together central government, local authorities and other organisations in partnerships to deliver services focussing on local needs.

An interactive mapping tool which allows you to see how the population has aged over time, and is projected to continue to age, in local authority areas.

Engaging older people
- Active at 60 Community Agents helping older people who are at most risk of longer-term loneliness and social isolation remain active, independent and positively engaged with society following retirement

Handy guides to engagement meetings with older people
The following short guides have been commissioned by the English Forums on Ageing, and have been developed jointly by DWP and members of the UK Advisory Forum on Ageing. They bring together ideas and good practice to help engagement meetings with older people go as smoothly as possible, dealing with key issues that have arisen from the experiences of members.
