Latest Talking point – Ending ageism

There's less than two months to go before the Government outlaws age discrimination in areas such as recruitment, training, promotion and retirement and bans unjustified retirement ages of below 65. Read more about the age discrimination legislation.

But how ready are employers are to meet this challenge?
The Age Partnership Group reports look at the challenges faced by nine sectors of the economy in recruiting, training and retaining older workers. They were commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions and published on 10 August. Read the press release about the reports.

The DWP publications highlight which practices employers need to change if they are to avoid breaking the Age Regulations in future.

They also give employers good advice on how to comply with the Age Regulations.

Many employers are well on their way to meeting the regulations.

You'll find details of more than 150 'Employer Champions' good practice on the Age Positive website.

As announced in the Pensions White Paper, the Government will continue to work with employers to remove compulsory retirement ages and adopt flexible approaches.
