Solution Centre ...

... a hub of creativity, ideas and innovation

The Solution Centre helps people and teams release their creative potential to find exciting, compelling, challenging and practical ideas to solve business-focused problems.

Solution Centre generated a lot of interest at Civil Service Live 2009 – and we appeared on The Politics Show!

Some of our contributions to innovation

A project in the Solution Centre designed the new Council Tax Benefit claim process. It reduced the 26 page claim form to 3 pages, introduced claims by phone and helped launch the national roadshows and the successful take-up pilot. As a result, customers get up to £90 million more benefit each year.

Our work to ease the burden on citizens reporting a change of circumstances  – in particular, bereavement – was profiled in Sir David Varney's report, Service Transformation. It now forms part of a cross government project, Tell Us Once.

We offer a groundbreaking leadership programme, Inspired to Succeed, helping people lead through their strengths and values. Piloted with a group of ethnic minority staff, 80% went on to achieve promotion. All say it changed their lives.

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel (CICAP) asked us to produce a film to alleviate the fears and concerns of people attending appeals. Our film is now part of the pre-appeal information pack. People said – "It has really helped to ease my worry" and "I feel a lot more confident now".
