Known faults on CIS
Any faults or queries relating to CIS should be made to LAST using forms LAST 5a or LAST 5b. Please refer to Section 6 of the LA CIS Guide for further details. The following are known faults:
- Pension Credit cases: AIF breakdown
- Pension Credit cases: AIF discrepancies
- Claim status and Award End dates
Pension Credit cases: AIF breakdown
On certain savings only credit cases the AIF breakdown hyperlink is missing. LAs should attempt to go back into the Award History screen (using the back button) and then clicking back into the ‘details’, hyperlink. If this does not resolve the issue LA users should contact The Pension, Disability and Carers Service for the correct information and raise an incident with LAST using form LAST 5a.
Pension Credit cases: AIF discrepancies
A discrepancy has been identified in the Assessed Income Figures (AIF) displayed in the AIF breakdown screen. This is due to differences in the periods of calculation of the total AIF and any annuities, occupational or private pensions.
The occupational pensions figures in the AIF breakdown may also differ to those provided by local Pensions offices, ETD or in the award components details of Pension Credit award details. These discrepancies are due to occupational pensions being shown in AIF breakdown as a calendar monthly amount divided by 4, whereas ETD will show the true weekly amount. The total AIF in AIF breakdown is also calculated using the correct weekly amount.
To reconcile any differences the occupational pension amount in AIF breakdown would need to be adjusted to the relevant figure. The following example shows the method:
To compare with ETD (correct) figure. CIS AIF £ x 12/13
As an example with an AIF of £15.51.
£15.51 multiplied by 12 calendar months = £186.12
£15.51 x 12 = £186.12
£186.12 divided by 13 lunar (4 weekly) months
£186.12 ÷ 13 = £14.32.
There is also a potential for discrepancies in certain cases where the AIF shown in the CIS AIF breakdown does not appear to add up. The cases where this has been identified are where the RP figure has been uprated but the PC award has not been automatically generated (and may require clerical intervention). The RP figure shown in these cases is the amount following uprating but the AIF is the pre-uprating figure. This can be checked using the RP award details in the Award History screen.
Claim status and Award End dates
On some cases on CIS the Awards History Screen and the Full Awards History screen displays the incorrect claim status. For example CIS will display ‘live not in payment’ when the claim is actually live or dormant.
If there is any doubt around the claim status on a particular claim LA staff should contact the DWP locally for clarification and raise an incident with LAST using a LAST 5a.
