CIS progress

LAs are now the second largest user of CIS, after DWP, with approximately 22,000 staff including home workers using CIS information to aid the processing of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit (HB/CTB).

Access to CIS provided LAs with the ability to register an interest, which ensures automatic receipt of Electronic Transfer of Data (ETD) information.

A gateway to access Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Tax Credit (TC) data is now integrated into CIS. Any reference to CIS and the security of personal information incorporates TC data supplied by HMRC.
