Mortgage Interest Run On (MIRO)

This benefit is dealt with by Jobcentre Plus. To find your local office, look in the phone book under Jobcentre Plus or Jobcentre.
What is it?
- You can carry on getting help with your mortgage or housing costs for an extra 4 weeks at the amount you have been getting.
- If certain benefits stop because of work.
- No need to claim.
Can I get it?
Have you or your partner:
- Been getting Income Support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance for at least 26 weeks?
- Been getting help with your mortgage or housing costs and still have to make these payments when you start work?
- Started paid full-time work that you expect to last for 5 weeks or more?
If YES to all, you may get Mortgage Interest Run On - you do not need to claim.

You must tell your social security office, Jobcentre Plus straight away if you start work.
