You can get benefits for accidents at work and for occupational diseases in the following social security agreement countries:
- Barbados
- Bermuda
- Canada
- Israel
- Jamaica
- Jersey and Guernsey
- Mauritius

Barbados
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in Barbados but are still insured under the UK scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in Barbados, except Reduced Earnings Allowance (REA), which is not payable.
In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Barbadian scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in Barbados. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.
If you have an accident while you are travelling for your work from one country to the other, you will be treated as if the accident had happened in the country you had been insured in at the time.
If you contract an industrial disease and you have worked in both countries doing the sort of work which put you at risk of that disease, the rules of the country you worked in last before you were found to have the disease will decide your benefit.
If you contract an industrial disease and you have worked in only one of the countries doing the sort of work which put you at risk of that disease, the rules of that country will decide your benefit, unless the disease was made worse by work that you did later in the other country.
If you are receiving benefit for an industrial disease from one country and the disease was made worse by work you did in the other country, the other country will decide whether you should get any extra benefit.
If you are getting benefit other than a pension from Barbados because of an industrial accident or disease, you cannot get UK Incapacity Benefit or Maternity Allowance at the same time.
If you have a separate right to benefit from the UK and Barbados you will only be paid the benefit by the country where you were last employed.
Bermuda
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in Bermuda but are still insured under the UK scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK.
In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Bermudan scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in Bermuda. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.
If you have an accident while you are travelling for your work from one country to the other, you will be treated as if the accident had happened in the country you had been insured in at the time.
Canada
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in Canada and paying UK Class 1 contributions, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK. Any benefit will be payable from the date you return to the UK.
For people working in the province of Québec, but still insured under the UK scheme, the provisions outlined in the leaflet Social security abroad (NI38) will apply.
Israel
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in Israel but are still insured under the UK scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in Israel.
In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Israeli scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in Israel. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.
If you contract an industrial disease and you have worked in both countries doing the sort of work which put you at risk of that disease, the rules of the country you worked in last before you were found to have the disease will decide your benefit.
If you claim benefit for an industrial accident or disease in one country, any benefit payable by the other country for an industrial accident or disease will be taken into account.
Jamaica
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in Jamaica but are still insured under the UK scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in Jamaica.
In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Jamaican scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in Jamaica. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.
If you have an accident while you are travelling for your work from one country to the other, you will be treated as if the accident had happened in the country you had been insured in at the time.

In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Jersey or Guernsey scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in Jersey or Guernsey. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.

In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Mauritian scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in Mauritius.
If you have an accident while you are travelling for your work from one country to the other, you will be treated as if the accident had happened in the country were insured in at the time.
Philippines
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the Philippines, but are still insured under the UK scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident, including UK Incapacity Benefit, short-term or long-term, payable in respect of that industrial accident or disease, can be paid in the Philippines. In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Philippine scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the Philippines. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.
If you have a separate right to benefit from the UK and the Philippines, you will only be paid the benefit by the country where you were last insured.
Republics of the former Yugoslavia
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the Republic, but are still insured under the UK scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the Republic.
In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Republic's scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the Republic. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.
If you contract an industrial disease and you have worked in both countries doing the sort of work which put you at risk of that disease, the rules of the country you worked in last before you were found to have the disease will decide your benefit.
If you contract an industrial disease and you have worked in only one of the countries doing the sort of work which put you at risk of that disease, the rules of that country will decide your benefit.
If you are receiving benefit for an industrial disease from one country and the disease was made worse by work you did in the other country, the other country will decide whether you should get any extra benefit. In making that decision, any previous industrial accident or similar disease for which benefit is payable under the legislation of the other country will be taken into account in assessing the degree of your latest disablement.
Turkey
If you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in Turkey, but are still insured under the UK scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in the UK. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in Turkey.
In the same way, if you have an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease while you are working in the UK, but are still insured under the Turkish scheme, you will be treated as if the accident happened or you contracted the disease in Turkey. Any benefit payable in respect of that accident or disease can be paid in the UK.
Effect of disablement from an industrial accident or disease in one country on a subsequent claim in the other
If your disablement was the result of an industrial accident or disease in one country, any previous industrial accident or similar disease for which benefit is payable under the legislation of the other country will be taken into account in assessing the degree of your latest disablement.
UK Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
UK Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit is payable in

at the same rate as if you were living in the UK except in:
Bermuda:
If you have a separate right to benefit from the UK and Bermuda,your rate of benefit may be reduced by either the UK or Bermuda, but not both. This will normally depend on whether you are in the UK or Bermuda at the time you are claiming for.
Israel:
If you claim benefit for an industrial accident or disease in the UK, any benefit payable by Israel for an industrial accident or disease will be taken into account.
