24 March 2010 – ILF appoint new Resources Director
The Independent Living Fund (ILF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Jarratt as its new Resources Director.
Steve commenced his new position within the ILF from 15 March 2010, and takes on responsibility for the effective management and distribution of over a third of a billion pounds to over 21,000 disabled people across the UK.
Commenting on Steve’s appointment Patrick Boyle ILF Chief Executive said, “We are delighted to welcome Steve to the ILF, his background and experience working within DWP will bring an additional perspective to the ILF, which will prove helpful moving forwards in what will undoubtedly be challenging times for all Government bodies”.
Steve will have responsibility for Finance, Human Resources, Payment Security and Governance drawing together existing corporate functions to increase the organisations capacity and flexibility. In this challenging financial climate Steve will ensure that available funding is distributed appropriately and is effectively targeted to those people who need it most, whilst delivering real value for money.
A Chartered Management Accountant, Steve Jarratt has previously held a number of senior positions in both the public and private sectors. Most recently he was the Senior Finance Business Partner for the East Midlands Jobcentre Plus region. His previous experience includes roles in the corporate finance area of the Department of Work and Pensions and in the private sector.
He is married with two children and lives at Risley, a village close to Nottingham, and enjoys travel, food and cooking, walking his dogs and the countryside.

- The Independent Living Fund (ILF) is an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body of the Department for Work and Pensions. It awards payments to severely disabled people to support the cost of their personal assistance, enabling them to live fully inclusive independent lives in their communities. To get payments from the ILF you have to meet certain conditions.
- The ILF provides financial assistance under the terms of a single publicly financed discretionary Trust Deed – The Independent Living Fund (2006), governed by a Board of nine Trustees.
- The ILF currently provides financial support to over 21,000 disabled people in the UK, and has supported over 46,000 disabled people during the last 21 years.
- The allocated budget for the ILF during 2010-11 is £359.2m.
