GPs in England can call an advice service, in their professional healthcare capacity, to access support and advice on patient occupational health issues. Professional occupational health nurses are available on a dedicated telephone line – 0800 0 77 88 44 – and advice can be accessed online from –
www.healthyworkinguk.co.uk provides advice and guidance on the new fit note and on dealing with health and work during consultations. The Royal College of General Practitioners, the Society of Occupational Medicine and the Faculty of Occupational Medicine developed the website and DWP supports it.
Scotland
In Scotland, GPs can access professional support and advice through the Healthy Working Lives Adviceline – 0800 019 2211 – and the Healthy Working Lives website.
Wales
In Wales, GPs can access professional support and advice through the Health at Work Advice Line Wales – 0800 107 0900 – and the Healthy Working Wales website.
Patients and employers – advice for small businesses
Patients and small businesses can also access advice through occupational health advice services aimed at small businesses. GPs may wish to mention this to their patients.
