National Education Programme for GPs
The National Education Programme ran between June 2009 and March 2011, to raise GPs’ awareness of the positive links between health and work and ensure that they were equipped to provide support and advice to patients about fitness for work issues.
The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) r an workshops throughout Great Britain, which reached 10% of all GPs, and focussed on the recent evidence about the positive link between work and health and providing skills and strategies for managing difficult consultations. The workshop programme was funded by the Department for Work and Pensions.
The RCGP are continuing to run the workshops beyond the DWP funded stage of the project. A number of workshops are being held across Great Britain in 2011 and 2012.
