Health, Work and Well-being Co-ordinators
A two-year initiative to pump-prime local health and work activity across Great Britain has now concluded. The network of 11 Health, Work and Well-being Co-ordinators championed and led on the Health, Work and Well-being agenda, to facilitate an integrated approach to health and employment at a local level. The co-ordinator network aimed to help reduce the overall incidence of work- related ill health and to promote best practice and innovation on health, employment and skills.
Focusing on smaller businesses, the co-ordinators worked to raise awareness of the many benefits of good work to good health – and vice versa – and cement a stronger health and employment network in each locality.
The co-ordinators also developed and encouraged partnerships between stakeholders with a keen interest in this agenda such as Employer Coalitions, Business Link, the Confederation of British Industry and the Trade Union Congress and relevant equivalents in Scotland and Wales.
Public Health England and the emerging local health and well-being boards will be well placed to maintain the spotlight on health and work, as will the devolved Governments in Scotland and Wales.
We will publish an evaluation of the network on the Health, Work and Well-being pages in Summer 2012.
