How we make decisions

Major policy proposals and decisions

The Government develops policy, which sometimes results in new laws or changes to existing legislation. DWP develops policy in these areas:

Impact assessments

Impact assessments help to explain the effects of government proposals which impact on the private, public and third sectors.

Equality impact assessments

Equality impact assessments assess the likely or actual effects of policies or services on people in respect of disability, gender and racial equality.
