ESF logo

You must use the ESF logo for the 2007-2013 England and Gibraltar ESF programme and a reference to financial support from the European Union (EU) on all information, publicity measures and websites related to the current ESF programme, including both ESF and match funded activity.

This is to help ensure as many people as possible get to know about ESF and what it does.

Displaying the ESF logo

Display of the ESF logo is an EU regulatory requirement. Its use includes, but is not restricted to the following:

Before you use the logo, please read the 2007-2013 ESF logo guidance.  This will help ensure you are publicising ESF and EU support in a consistent and coherent way. The guidance provides:

Monitoring compliance

The use of the ESF logo and references to EU support will be checked as part of project monitoring activity by your CFO or funder and the ESF Managing Authority and potentially as part of any external audit.

Non-use of the logo and EU support references will be regarded as non-compliance. Financial penalties have been imposed for failure to comply and will continue to be applied in 2011-2013.

Use of ESF logo on websites

The ESF logo and a reference to EU support must be placed on the websites of all providers and sub-contractors running ESF or match funded projects.

We recommend that you place the logo on your website homepage – particularly where ESF is a significant part (25% or more) of your organisation’s current funding or income. It should also feature on all website pages that relate to your ESF project’s funding or activity.

Where ESF is a relatively small proportion of your overall funding or income (less than 25%) then as a minimum requirement the logo and a reference to EU support should feature on website pages that deal predominantly with ESF project funding or activity.

If you have partner or funder type pages then we would encourage you to add the ESF logo on to them, with brief details of the ESF support if space is available.

Use of other logos

As well as using the ESF logo on all publicity materials and project documents, you may be required by the terms of your funding contract to also display your funder’s or another logo.

More information on some specific CFOs and other funders whose logo you may be required to use is provided below:

If you are unsure about your CFO/funder’s requirements please check with your main contact there.

References to EU support

A clear acknowledgement of EU support should be used alongside the logo wherever possible. As a minimum, please include the words "This project is part-financed by the European Union."

Depending on the type of communication and space available, you could extend this – for example with:
