Equality Act 2010
The ban on age discrimination against adults in service provision and public functions starts on 1 October 2012.
More information is available at the Government Equalities Office website. The Government Equalities Office has produced a guide on the ban Equality Act 2010 Banning Age Discrimination in Services.
Paragraph 10 of the guide explains that positive action is allowed if it prevents or compensates for disadvantages experienced by, or meets the needs of a particular age group.
