Carolyn Webster, European Programmes Manager, Jobcentre Plus, Devon and Cornwall District, has won a national award celebrating "trailblazing women." Carolyn, who plays a key role in the success of using the European Social Fund to support people into work, emerged as the winner among winners to receive the Public Services section of the First Women Awards on Thursday 30 June 2011.

The awards, held in association with Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets and championed by Helen Alexander, first female president of the CBI, recognise women who actively create opportunities for other women to follow their footsteps. The ceremony was held at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London.

Carolyn said, "'I am both delighted and humbled by award – to have the work of Jobcentre Plus and European Social Fund Convergence programme in helping people get into work in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly recognised in this prestigious way is fantastic. The First Women Awards is a well established national platform that celebrates the contribution that women are making to our business and public life across the whole of the UK."
