Adult Learners’ Week 2013 awards nominations open
Adult Learners' Week is a national celebration of the benefits of lifelong learning and is the perfect opportunity to highlight the many types of learning available to adults from all walks of life. In 2013 the week will take place from 18-24 May.
Kick-starting activity for 2013 in England, nominations for the Adult Learners' Week Awards are now open and there are a range of exciting new award categories for you to nominate learners and projects for.
An important element of the awards is the ESF awards category, which celebrates the achievements of individuals and projects that have benefited from ESF funding.
ESF stakeholders, projects, tutors, and colleagues are encouraged to submit nominations for these awards, as are friends and family members of individual participants.
Why make a nomination?
- Nominating an inspiring learner will boost their self-confidence and turn them into a role model that others can follow back into learning.
- It’s also the perfect opportunity to highlight learning provision and the impact that ESF projects’ support has on the people they work with.
The local ESF awards are:
- ESF Individual Awards (up to 10 across England)
- ESF Project Awards (up to 10 across England)
The national 2013 ESF awards are:
- ESF Young Adult Learner of the Year (Age 18-25)
- ESF Outstanding Individual Learner of the Year
- ESF Inspiring Learning Project of the Year
Each winner will be presented with a certificate and voucher to contribute to their future learning. Winners’ stories are publicised in national and local media to highlight the impact of ESF funded learning opportunities and to inspire others to take up learning.
In addition, everyone nominated for an Adult Learner's Week Award will receive a certificate of achievement in recognition of their learning.
Please note the closing date for nominations is 5 pm Thursday 13 December 2012.
This shorter timescale for submitting nominations is part of the new format and structure of the awards, along with an increased thematic focus and a more flexible local level approach for the selection of ESF winners.
Adult Learners’ Week, held in May each year, is organised by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Learning (NIACE). The initiative is part-funded by ESF to help promote the activities and achievements of the England ESF programme.
