Adult Learners' Week 2013 next steps

Adult Learners‘ Week Award presentation at the 2012 awards event

Adult Learners’ Week (ALW) 2013 takes place from 18-24 May. The week will celebrate learners’ achievements and encourage thousands of people, whatever their background or age to give learning a go.

Over 1400 nominations have been submitted for this year’s ALW awards. The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE), which organises ALW, has held selection panels to choose award winners – who will be presented their awards at ceremonies in May.

ALW is part-funded by ESF technical assistance. ESF awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and projects across England that have benefited from ESF funding – and winners feature prominently within the awards ceremonies.

The quality of ESF nominations this year has been high. Local level individual and project award winners have been selected along with winners under the following national categories:

NIACE will be contacting all the award winners who will be invited to the ceremonies in May. Arrangements for these events, including locations and dates will appear on the ALW website shortly.

ESF delivery partners including providers, sub-contractors are encouraged to get involved in ALW 2013 by organising or taking part in local level events and activities that promote learning and allow people to have a go.

Visit the ALW website or contact the NIACE ALW Outreach Co-ordinators to access resources and find out more about getting involved in ALW events and activities in your area.
