Active Plus launches in Devon
A project initially supported by ESF Convergence investment in Cornwall and involving military veterans and the over 50s, was launched in Devon in March 2013. Active Plus, which has been featured previously on the ESF website, is running courses in Tiverton, Exeter, Barnstaple, and Honiton with the backing of the Flexible Support Fund (FSF) from Jobcentre Plus.
Veterans who have physical injuries or have suffered from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), offer training in a range of skills including interview techniques, first aid and IT to people aged 50+ who are out of work. The aim is to give them increased confidence and skills to support them in finding a job or setting up a business.
The programme also develops the veterans to lead and deliver the courses.
