Cornwall Works WISE Awards 2011

The 2011 Cornwall Works WISE Awards – a celebration of achievements in employment and skills activity have been launched with an invitation for nominations.
This is the fourth year that the highly successful awards - which are organised by the Convergence Partnership Office, Jobcentre Plus and the Skills Funding Agency - have been held. The ceremony is take place on Monday, 9 May to coincide with Europe Day – a day aimed at highlighting European Union economic investment successes.
The Cornwall Works WISE awards recognise and celebrate excellence in employment and skills activity in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The ceremony itself is also designed to help recognise the important role that the European Social Fund - at present through the ESF Convergence Programme - has played in employment and skills provision and innovation across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
There are eight WISE awards plus one special lifetime achievement award honouring an individual or organisation. In 2010 this was won by Pentreath, a charity with an exemplary record of supporting people experiencing mental ill health back into work.
WISE award winners in 2010 included a surfing Gulf War veteran; a crack team of graduates helping Cornwall businesses through the recession using new media and digital technologies and an organisation that has set up a marine academy for young people.
