Hania flower shop

Picture of visitors to Hania Flower Shop.

Visiting a flower shop should be an enjoyable experience and being able to experience that pleasure is what lay at the heart of the adjustments made by the owner of Hania florists.

Hania Soot said: “Coming into a flower shop is an enjoyable experience and we wanted to do whatever we could to ensure that disabled people have as pleasant an experience as possible when they come into our shop. There are so many places where disabled people cannot visit because they are restricted by the building or its facilities; it was important to us that our shop was not like that.”

With this in mind, the florist has an accessible entrance for those who use wheelchairs, and also has a display of flowers and plants outside the shop, which people are able to purchase without having to go inside. A free delivery service is available to local customers who cannot visit the shop.

Inside the shop there are always paper and pens available for people who have speech or hearing impairments and a chair is provided for anyone who needs to rest for a short period. There is also a selection of products and gifts displayed at a height suitable for people who use a wheelchair and the shop is open plan so that visitors can come through and watch staff working as well as choose their own flowers.
