Disability Discrimination Act: Revision of the Guidance on matters to be taken into account in determining questions relating to the definition of disability

This revised guidance on matters to be taken into account in determining questions relating to the definition of disability was laid before Parliament on 7th February 2006 and issued by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions on 29th March 2006. It is in force from 1st May 2006.

The previous guidance which was issued in 1996, is revoked from 1st May 2006. However that guidance (and not the revised guidance) will continue to apply in relation to any claim, whenever made or dealt with, arising out an act of discrimination occurring before 1st May 2006.
